Residential Options
Mainstream Residential Services offers both Supported Living and Supportive Independent Living Programs in the Niagara Region.
Person Centred Planning
As part of both the Independent Living and Supported Independent Living Programs, each person will have the opportunity to participate in a Person Centered Planning process at least yearly to identify goals, support needs and opportunities for personal development and growth.
People are also offered abuse prevention training, rights training and the opportunity to learn about healthy living.
Supportive Independent Living Program
The Supportive Independent Living Program provides support to adults with a developmental difference to live in the community.
People supported by the Supportive Independent Living Program have many lifeskills however require some assistance to maintain and foster independent living.
Supports for each person are based on individual need.
Supportive Independent Living Services:
- Household tasks (groceries, cooking, cleaning)
- Problem solving
- Accessing community resources
- Recreation and leisure opportunities
- Medication management
- Money management and budgeting
- Goal setting
- Self advocacy
- Healthy relationships
- Support with medical appointments
- 24h emergency response
Supported Living Program
The Supported Living program provides residential support to adults with a developmental difference in a group living situation.
Supports are provided 24 hours a day for all areas of a person’s life. Staffing and supports are based on individual need and vary between each housing location.
Supports promote personal choice, personal growth and development and community involvement.
